Immersive Experience Without Headphones

In the corridors of the Maison Gainsbourg in Paris, visitors explore the life and work of Serge Gainsbourg through personal artefacts, photographs, and audiovisual content. To enrich the experience, the museum needed a way to deliver immersive audio linked to several screens in close proximity without using headphones or adding noise to the space.

Create personal, immersive sound zones within an open museum hallway without sound bleed between exhibits.

Speaker B units were integrated into the ceiling to emit precise sound zones directly beneath each screen. The installation ensures that audio remains localized, engaging visitors with vivid storytelling while preserving overall acoustic calm. This setup enhances visitor immersion and spatial fluidity.

The result is a seamless, multi‑narrative experience in a historic setting, letting visitors explore different facets of Gainsbourg’s life without disturbing others. It demonstrates how directional audio can enrich museum storytelling and support multiple exhibit zones in shared spaces.
